HOW TO DECIDE THE SIZE OF YOUR BIN IN 6 SIMPLE STEPS
Did you know that if you put all the waste produced every year (worldwide) in trucks, the vehicles can circle the globe 24 times? The waste levels are this high because 99% of everything humans buy gets trashed within 6 months. In households, most of the waste is created in the kitchen. The amount of waste is strengthened due to holding social activities. Events such as Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and birthdays are held at home. Inviting friends and family brings a lot of fun, but also a lot of mess and garbage. We know from our own experience that nothing is more annoying than having a bin that is too small. Imagine having to go outside, three times a night, to empty your bin. To prevent this, we have written 6 valuable tips to help you determine the correct bin size. Let’s go!
1. DETERMINE FOR WHICH ROOM THE BIN IS
The first step in deciding which bin is perfect for you is to determine where you are going to place the bin. Most of the time, our biggest bins are used in the kitchen. This is pretty objective because in general most of the waste will be created in the kitchen. Other rooms where our bins are commonly used are bathrooms and toilets. In these kinds of rooms, a small bin is often enough because a minimum of waste is created here. Our medium bins are commonly used in offices, garages, and bedrooms.
2. COUNT THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN YOUR HOME
One of the biggest factors in how much waste you create is the number of people in your home. A household with 5 people will create more waste than a household with 2 people. The more people, the more waste you create, and the bigger your bin should be. As mentioned before, nothing is more annoying than taking out your waste multiple times a day!
3. ASK YOURSELF: HOW MUCH TRASH DO I CREATE?
The amount of trash you create depends on multiple factors. The main factor is the recycling opportunities your waste pickup company offers. If your waste company doesn’t offer recycling pickup, you are most likely to create more waste than an average person because everything goes in one specific bin.
4. CHECK HOW MUCH SPACE YOU HAVE
In a small kitchen, bathroom, or office, a large bin quickly gets in the way. There is a chance that the bin is taking up some valuable space. This is something you obviously don't want. An EKO bin is a beautiful thing and should be anything but annoying. It’s very important to check before the purchase how much space you have in the specific room you want to place your new bin.
5. CHOOSE THE SIZE OF BAG YOU WANT TO USE
If you have a lot of (reusable) garbage bags that you still want to use, it makes sense that you want to buy a bin that fits these garbage bags. If the garbage bags are larger than the bin itself, it can cause a lot of extra mess when removing the garbage bag from the bin. If you don’t have reusable bags, we have a solution for you that perfectly fits our own bins. At EKO we offer bin liners for every capacity. The best thing about our bin liners is that they all have different letters. Because of the letters, you know exactly which liner fits which bin or part of the bin. In addition, our bin liners are very strong and have a very small chance of tearing.
6. DECIDE!
After all those steps, it’s time to decide which bin perfectly fits your own wishes and needs. At EKO Europe we have a wide range of bins, including:
WRAPPING UP
Social activities are increasing this month and so is the amount of waste we’re creating. Nothing is more annoying than having a bin that is too small during social activities, the same as a bin that is too big and takes up too much valuable space. It’s important to know that every person creates a different amount of waste which is depending on two main factors. The first factor is the opportunity to recycle your waste. The second factor is the number of people in a household. At EKO we love bins, especially our own. That’s why we offer free delivery and have a free return policy.
